The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) has built a strong foundation over the past 10 years in developing and growing the maritime research ecosystem. Our goal for the next 10 years is to establish Singapore as a Global Maritime Knowledge and Innovation Hub with a refreshed mission and vision. Mr Tan Cheng Peng, Executive Director of SMI, will share more on SMI’s new strategic directions and plans for its next lap at this webinar.

As the maritime industry enters a new era, knowledge and innovation are seen as the key enablers for the sector’s future growth – a future driven by the need for increased digitalisation, decarbonisation and adoption of new and improved technologies to enhance safety and efficiency. SMI will continue its efforts to support Maritime Singapore in preparing and addressing these challenges through targeted initiatives and driving innovative solutions. Some of these R&D initiatives and projects, namely Maritime Artificial Intelligence, Future Ships and Systems Design, Vessel Electrification and Sustainability will be shared in greater details by experts and industry leaders at this SMI Webinar.
