As part of the global drive to address climate change, Singapore has pledged to reduce its Emissions Intensity by 36% from 2005 levels by 2030. From the maritime sector, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the local harbour craft contribute towards the national greenhouse gas inventory and national greenhouse gas totals.

As the lead agency for the maritime sector, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is keen to work with the industry in the development of new technologies/solutions supporting the decarbonisation of the harbour crafts, and has identified electrification as one of the potential route for emissions reduction.

To better prepare the harbour craft community and contribute to the national effort for decarbonisation, the MPA and the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) will be jointly organising the Workshop on Harbour Craft Electrification on 30 August 2019, bringing together both the maritime industry and research community to

1. Share past and on-going projects/developments for electric harbour craft
2. Identify technology/research gaps and propose performance targets for new electric harbour craft
3. Discuss and scope out potential joint programmes between the industry and research community to support the development and eventual adoption of electrification technologies

For more information, please contact Mr Lau Wei Jie (MPA) (Email LAU_Wei_Jie@mpa.gov.sg, DID 6375 1829) or Mr Yang Yang (SMI) (Email yangyang@maritimeinstitute.sg, DID 6271 0632).
