SMI Internship Programme
Launch your career at the forefront of maritime innovation through our Internship Programme. Designed for curious and driven individuals, the programme offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in shaping the future of the maritime industry.
SMI interns will contribute to initiatives that advance Singapore’s vision of becoming a leading global maritime research centre of excellence. From connecting with the research ecosystem and uncovering the next wave of emerging technologies to supporting strategic initiatives and project execution, you will help bridge the gap between innovation and industry, creating tangible impact for the maritime sector.
We are looking for enthusiastic students to join our internship programme as:
A. R&D Interns
1. Roles and Responsibilities
a. Explore Innovations
Stay on top of the latest trends in maritime science and technology. Help us map out latest developments and carry out gap analyses in science and technologies relevant to maritime domain, and identify new emerging areas for Singapore’s maritime strategic interests.
b. Create Strategies
Support the team in developing strategies and initiatives on the translation, deployment, commercialisation, and of maritime R&D into real-world solutions. You will gain firsthand experience as you work with our Project Managers in engaging a diverse network of government, academia, and industry partners to cultivate meaningful partnerships that support the growth of maritime innovation.
c. Project Management
Gain hands-on experience managing R&D projects , compile reports and perform review for completed projects.
d. Build Partnerships
You will help drive and foster partnerships between the research ecosystem and industry, and to , focusing on industry collaboration projects and translation platforms in the maritime domain.
e. Event Organisation
Assist in the organisation of maritime R&D events, workshops and engagement activities. You will help coordinate event logistics, support stakeholder communications, manage registrations, prepare event collaterals, and provide on-site support to ensure a smooth and successful event experience.
2. Pre-Requisites
- University undergraduates or Polytechnic Students with keen interest to grow in the maritime, sustainability and digital domains;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Positive attitude;
- Able to work independently and is a good team player;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
3. Internship Duration
3 to 6 months
