To ignore [the waves] is a crime against nature,” writes David Ross, the British wave energy journalist. Man has always been fascinated with the power of the waves, yet although the global potential of ocean waves has been estimated to be comparable to the world’s present energy demand, most of this potential still remains untapped. This talk will give an overview of the history of harnessing energy from ocean waves and the theory behind it, as well as outline the challenges that must be overcome for wave energy to be a substantial part of our future energy supply.
