Top Projects of SMI Research Showcase April 2017

The bi-annual SMI Research Showcase April 2017 took place at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands Singapore, during the Singapore Maritime Week 2017 to showcase and raise the profile of maritime and offshore research and technology in Singapore. The fourth edition of the Research Showcase also recognised maritime research excellence where visitors were invited to vote for their favourite research projects.
SMI is pleased to announce the Top Projects under the SMI Research Showcase April 2017 as follow:

The Top Projects were determined by a Judging Panel assessment (75% weightage) and voting by visitors of the Research Showcase (25% weightage). Each of the Top Projects will be awarded S$3,000.
The next SMI Research Showcase will be taking place in October 2017.
About the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI)
The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) is a joint effort by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).
Established in April 2011, the SMI develops strategies and programmes to achieve its mission with key focus areas in sectors such as port, shipping and maritime services. The SMI charts the maritime research strategy and promotes greater industry-academia R&D collaborations to be undertaken in Singapore.
As a whole-of-Government approach, the agencies work together in initiatives driven through the SMI. The formation of the SMI will strengthen Singapore’s research manpower and capabilities as a global maritime knowledge hub to enhance the overall positioning and competitiveness of the maritime industry.
