Chairman of SMI, Mr Teo Siong Seng, addressed distinguished guests at the SMI Forum 2012

The inaugural Singapore Maritime Institute Forum 2011 took place on 12 October 2011 at the Fusionopolis in Singapore. Close to 200 distinguished guests from the maritime and offshore industry, Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and SMI,s partners attended the event and came together to discuss on maritime education & training, research & development and policy research for the maritime and offshore industry in Singapore.

This year, the SMI Forum took place in the morning of 29 November 2012 at the Nanyang Technological University. The 2nd SMI Forum continues to see strong participation from industry stakeholders including distinguished leaders and guests from the industry and academic sectors as well as the government agencies convened for another fruitful discussion and networking session.

One of the key highlights of the SMI Forum 2012 was the keynote speeches delivered by renowned leaders on various industry issues and developments. This year, there were four keynote speeches pertaining to maritime education and R&D developments in Singapore as well as a sectorial overview and insights on both the maritime and offshore sectors.
