In the summer of 2012, The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust (The LRET), in collaboration with the University of Southampton, has instituted the Second Research Collegium in Advanced
Ship and Maritime Systems Design. This year’s Collegium focused on the topic of seabed exploitation, with an aim to produce innovative engineering system concept design. Mr. Harrif
Santo was among the 25 young PhDs and post-doctoral researchers who participated in the 8-week Collegium in the University of Southampton. His group decided to work on a proposed
solution for manganese nodule recovery, with an objective to achieve full-scale recoveryoperation. This seminar, which will be delivered by Mr. Harrif Santo, is intended to share with
the audiences the valuable experience and research findings gained throughout the Collegium, together with the presence and participations of his team members through weblinks during
the introduction and Q&A session, namely Baivau Agarwal of Bharati Shipyard Limited in India, Pan Hu of the University of Western Australia in Australia, and Jenny Zhou Jin of Nanyang
