SUMMARY:SSA Shipping Conference & Exhibition 2013: Strategies in Uncertain Times
DESCRIPTION:To be held on 26 and 27 September 2013 at the Marina Mandarin Hotel, the SSA Shipping Conference is aimed at addressing some of the concerns that are affecting the shipping industry whilst at the same time keeping the industry abreast of the regulatory developments.The past few years had been very challenging for the shipping industry. The container, dry bulk and tanker sectors, with the exception of the offshore marine oil and gas industry, were all affected. The weakness in some South European economies, depressed freight markets, higher crude oil prices, excess shipping capacity as well as piracy problems have all dampened the trading and shipping industry.However, the continued strength of the Chinese, Indian and South East Asian economies is still keeping the shipping industry afloat.On the regulatory front, government representatives at the IMO have been keeping themselves busy with developing new rules to safeguard the shipping industry and to protect the marine and atmospheric environment.This Conference is SSA’s contribution to World Maritime Day celebrations in Singapore on 26 September 2013 and also coincides with SSA’s 28th Anniversary Dinner celebrations at the Resorts World Sentosa on 27 September 2013.For the full conference brochure, please click here.
