SMI Seminar 2015: Automation & Autonomy (Ships & Shipyards)
In its second edition this year, the theme for the annual SMI Seminar will be “Automation & Autonomy (Ships & Shipyards)”. The SMI Seminar 2015 will also be held in conjunction with the Singapore Maritime Technology Conference 2015 during the Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2015.
Automation & Autonomy is key towards higher operation efficiency and better reliability. It is one of the ways to address challenges relating to the shortage of skilled labour and crew, and improving productivity. Participants can expect to hear on the current landscape and challenges in a shipboard environment covering various aspects such as safe navigation, shipboard operations and maintenance, cargo handling, process control and monitoring systems, etc, faced by shipowners or operators, and how these lead to R&D needs and opportunities as well as capabilities for developing innovative technologies to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
There will be two sessions, namely, (i) Automation and Autonomy for Ships; and (ii) Automation and Autonomy for Shipyards. Four speakers/presenters will be sharing at each of the two sessions, before a round-table/plenary discussion will take place where panel members will be exchanging insights and views with one another. This would then be followed by a 20 minutes Q&A session with the participants.
Event details to be furnished shortly. Please check back again for updates.
