Part of the Singapore Maritime Institute's (SMI) continuing efforts to promote research collaboration between the industry and academia, the SMI will be organising the 2nd session of the SMI Breakfast Series on the morning of 24 July 2015 (Friday).
We are pleased to partner the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) for this session on Laser Welding and Cladding of Exotic and Dissimilar Material for Marine & Offshore Applications. In addition to SIMTech’s presentation on their technology roadmap and capabilities on Laser Cladding & Welding, a discussion will also take place among participants on technical challenges and possible R&D opportunities. Possible R&D infrastructure concepts and equipment needs for the future will also be discussed.
About the SMI Breakfast Series
The SMI Breakfast Series will be serving quarterly breakfast seminars throughout the year to allow for greater interaction between the industry and academia over a less formal setting. Selected research topics will be shared and discussed over coffee and breakfast. Participants can expect first-hand preview of existing and upcoming R&D trends and initiatives, and how they can be of greater relevance to maritime and offshore industry development. The sessions will also conclude with networking opportunities for participants to further discuss research challenges and collaboration possibilities.
