SMF-GIA Seminar – Understanding Oil Spills and Pollution
The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) are jointly organising the inaugural seminar for 2012, Understanding Oil Spills and Pollution on Wednesday, 7 March 2012, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Capital Tower.
More often than not, we read about incidents such as ship collusions and oil spills in the news but little is known about the actual work that goes behind the scenes. In this inaugural session of 2012, we hope to shed light on the action plans that the regulator, Maritime and Port Authority has in place to control such incidents and the measures they will take to rectify the repercussions. The marine insurance expert, Ms Anne-Maree Behm, Claims Handler of Shipowners’ Asia Pte Ltd will highlight some interesting case studies and examine how insurers handle an oil spill and its financial implications.
The talk is presented as part of the Maritime Knowledge Shipping Sessions, a series of seminars in which maritime and insurance experts are invited to present insights about their specialisations to enhance the maritime and insurance knowledge of our insurance professionals and the maritime community.
The seminar is free and proudly sponsored by L.C.H. (S) Pte Ltd.
