SUMMARY:Probabilistic approaches in offshore engineering
DESCRIPTION:A challenging aspect of offshore engineering is the multitude of uncertainties that need to be considered in design and analysis. These uncertainties range from the irregularity of ocean waves, long-term fluctuation in the environmental condition, model uncertainties and statistical variation of the design parameters. Drawing on recent research by the speaker, this talk presents various probabilistic approaches for dealing with uncertainties, with applications to fatigue assessment and extreme response prediction. This talk also discusses a common error made in the simulation of random waves from a given wave spectrum. For online registration, click HERE.
