SUMMARY:MI@NUS Subsurface Technology R&D Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) and Maritime Institute @National University of Singapore (MI@NUS) will be jointly organising this workshop which is a strategic area under the SMI R&D roadmap for the offshore sector. This workshop serves as a platform for various parties to share and discuss initiatives that will help support and address key research areas for the roadmap. This workshop focuses on the technology and developments for the characterization of the subsurfaces beneath the ocean floor, ranging from surface based methods to downhole measurements. The applications include near surface geohazard, methane hydrate, petroleum reservoir characterization and monitoring, EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery), drilling hazard avoidance, and casing and cement integrity. In addition, the tools, equipment and components used will be discussed.Time*Programme*1230Registration + Buffet Lunch Reception1330Welcome AddressProf Chow Yean Khow, Executive Director, MI@NUS1340“An Integrated Approach to Subsurface Characterization”Prof Arthur Cheng, Professor, Dept of Civil & Environmental Engrg, NUS1400“Challenges and Opportunities for Downhole Drilling Tools”Dr Glenn Wilson, Technical Leader for Sensor Physics, Halliburton/Sperry1420“Research on rugged sensors for downhole applications”Mr Walia Rajan, Senior Manager (Industry Development), Institute of Microelectronics (IME), A*STAR1440“Challenges in Imaging and Understanding Petroleum Reservoir Through Seismic Data”Dr Dechun Lin, Senior Vice President, CGG1500Coffee/Tea Break1520“Trends in Enhanced Oil Recovery”Dr Nanji Hadia, Technical Leader of Enhanced Oil Recovery Group, Institute of Chemical & Engineering Sciences (ICES), A*STAR1540Panel Discussion / Q&AChaired by Prof Arthur Cheng, Professor, Dept of Civil & Environmental Engrg, NUS1620Closing AddressMr Heng Chiang Gnee, Executive Director, SMI1630Presentation of Token of Appreciation and Group Photo-taking1630End *Subject to changeAdmission is free and kindly click HERE for online registration.
