The local universities, polytechnics and A*STAR research institutions possess significant R&D resources, facilities and capabilities that are valuable for the maritime industry. It is SMI’s objective to highlight these resources and their R&D projects on the website so that the industry, academia and researchers can explore collaboration opportunities and others.
Through SMI Fund, we aim to develop a pipeline of maritime and offshore researchers, scientists, engineers and thought leaders to catalyse the growth of the industry.
SMI set out to develop a national maritime and marine & offshore research & development (R&D) plan for Singapore over the next ten to twelve years. The exercise for SMI's R&D Roadmap 2025 commenced in January 2013 to identify strategic R&D opportunities for Singapore, where over 50 companies in the maritime and marine & offshore sectors were consulted through various workshops and focus group sessions.
The exercise concluded in October 2013 with the sharing of the roadmaps at the SMI Forum 2013.
The SMI R&D roadmaps can be viewed HERE.
